Wildlife in Fern Tree Gully
We were lucky to see a range of wildlife during our walk in Fern Tree Gully, part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park in Victoria, Australia.
Walking in Fern Tree Gully
We spent an occasionally wet but enjoyable day out and about in Fern Tree Gully. The gully is part of Dandenong Ranges National Park in Victoria, Australia. As you might expect from a National Park, the location is beautiful, green, and a great place to go walking.
Melbourne at Night
A few recent photos from around central Melbourne. The season is changing and the weather is again turbulent.
Occupy Wall Street in Melbourne
I suspect the organisers of Melbourne Festival’s giant sculptures did not imagine this. In the last week, an “Occupy Melbourne” camp site has appeared around one of the monstrous angels on Melbourne’s City Square where Swanston Street meets Flinders Lane.
Angels-Demons. Parade
As part of Melbourne Festival 2011 large sculptures have appeared around the city. The sculptures of “mischievous monstrosities” are by AES+F (Russia).
Flooding in Tasmania
We encountered flooding throughout our travels in north-east Tasmania. The recent weather had been extremely wet and large areas of the Australia state had issued weather warnings.
Richardsons Beach in Freycinet
On our final morning in Freycinet National Park we visited Richardsons Beach. The beach was stunning in the still early morning.
Pademelons at Cradle Mountain, Tasmania
During our time in Cradle Mountain National Park, we were treated to visits from small marsupials each morning. The first morning we saw our first pademelon. It came right up to our balcony.
Isthmus Track Circuit in Freycinet
The walk is 11km from the main car park. We walked from our accommodation and extended the route to 16km return. The walk encompasses both Wineglass Beach and Hazards Beach.
Sleepy Bay in Freycinet
Sleepy Bay is on the east coast of Tasmania’s Freycinet Peninsula. Unlike Honeymoon Bay, this bay is not sheltered from the ocean and the waves are more evident.
