Edinburgh

Whenever we mentioned our forthcoming visit to the city, we were met with fond memories and prompts of what to see and enjoy. Edinburgh has certainly cultivated happy memories for many of our friends.

Constantly Amazed

If you are an organisation with a budget and staff, then I expect compensation for using my work. I also expect to be asked for permission to use my work; not only is it polite but my work is copyright.

Closing 2013

2013 was a busy year. We gathered a lot of tickets and paperwork. The journal is double its expected width in one corner. Not ideal but a sign of a year well spent.

Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle stands above the city of Edinburgh. The castle is built on an outcrop of rock and forms the focal point of the city centre.

Where the Mustard Comes From – Dijon

We had passed through Dijon a few times on the train. Our train line from Paris to Lyon passes through this notable and grand city.

Butter Santa and the Aftermath of the New Year

I noticed with child like delight figures moulded from butter in the supermarket. Silly novelty items that appeared weeks before Christmas. They have since vanished. We did not buy one but I did take a photo.

One O'Clock Gun at Edinburgh Castle

See the one o’clock gun being fired in Edinburgh Castle, Scotland. A slow motion replay is included.

Bristol

We visited Bristol to see the ss Great Britain. A steel hulled steam ship designed by Brunel. The city of Bristol itself was no less appealing.

Street Art in Clermont-Ferrand

We did not have to walk far from the train station to realise Clermont-Ferrand is the home to some talented street artists.

Clermont-Ferrand

Our initial impressions of Clermont-Ferrand were not overwhelming. As the double-barrelled name suggests, the city is a combination of two centres: Clermont and Montferrand. They are surprisingly distinct locations.
