TATE - Constellations
We visited Tate Liverpool. The Tate art gallery was high on my list of galleries to see during our time in Liverpool and Manchester.
A temporary exhibit called “Constellations” was excellent. The exhibit brought together clusters of artwork around one notable piece. The layout allowed the curator to introduce new artists and artwork that may otherwise be difficult to highlight.
There were ten to fifteen notable pieces, each on display with other artwork around it. The surrounding items were all related and influenced by the main piece. The clustering was not linear in order, nor just a collection of trivial likenesses or copies. Instead the clusters combined different media such as sculpture with paintings.
The curation was well thought out, engaging, and something I would like to see replicated.
Not all artwork is serious…
