Narbonne

Narbonne is a town near the Mediterranean coast in France. Its claim to fame is being home to the first Roman road in Gaul – which you can still see and stand on.

We were unlucky with the weather. It rained most of the weekend and that took the edge off our vist. Unlike Scotland where rain should be planned for and expected, Narbonne probably does best in good sunshine.

Our stay in Narbonne was our first stay in an apart-hotel. Our stay was fine but one clause we smiled at was the need to empty our room’s bin before leaving. No other special conditions about leaving the room tidy or clean, just make sure the bin is empty.

Narbonne’s town hall and cathedral complex is grand. The central square is home to small section of revealed original Roman road.

We braved the continuous heavy rain and made the most of visit.
