Meringues

Two months since my first significant encounter with the French medical system and I am on the mend. I met with the surgeon this week. He confirmed all is well and progressing nicely. A welcome relief and nice to come away without needing any further appointments.

I continue to be impressed by the French medical system. I have been treated well and the staff at Hopital Croix Rousse have been friendly and patient with me.

It was raining a light drizzle on our way back to Hénon, the closest metro station. With each previous visit we had passed a pâtisserie that specialised in meringues. The windows were adorned with piles of attractive tempting multi-coloured meringues.

Given this would be our last visit for – hopefully – a long while we succumbed. We bought a meringue each. A sugary treat that fuelled us for the rest of the day.
