Salmon Farming in Tasmania

As part of the cruise to see the Gordon River, we passed a commercial salmon farm. There are a few salmon farms in this region of Tasmania.

We slowed to watch the salmon being fed. The feed appears to be jetted into the salmon enclosures from small boats. The smaller boats ferry back and forth collecting the feed from a larger mother ship anchored a short distance away.

I had not seen a commercial fish farm before. This aquaculture was on a much larger scale than I expected.
