Lyon loves murals. There are tens of beautifully painted walls and buildings around the city. Books are published listing the various murals and where to go to see them. The murals are maintained, refreshed, and growing in number.

Another festival of lights is over. We braved the cold and went out each evening to see a few exhibits in bite sized chunks. Unlike last year, our first festival, we did not try to see everything.

Festival of Lights

As always the exhibitions are stunning. Photos and footage can not do the event justice. The combination of cold, crowds, and spectacle is hard to beat.

On my way to meet clients for lunch yesterday, I came across a street art project on Lyon’s pedestrianised shopping street.

Feeling Festive

Growing up, the first weekend in December was when we put up the Christmas tree. This weekend still feels like the start of the festive season for me; our decorations are up, and the Christmas baking has begun.

Le parcours

What greeted us was great. These young men were practising “le parcours” on the public gym equipment by the river. The men took turns to perform incredible feats of strength and control on the parallel bars.

Geese in the Park

Lyon’s Parc de la Tête d’Or is home to a large flock of geese. They roam the grassed areas. Children are enthralled by them and so too are parents. The parents staying close by waiting for the seemingly inevitable cry of an upset goose.
