France
2013 in Review: Travel
For our second year in Lyon, I wanted to take advantage of our location to travel more.
Notre-Dame des Malades
Short film of Notre-Dame des Malades in Vichy, France.
A Lick of Paint
Lyon loves murals. There are tens of beautifully painted walls and buildings around the city. Books are published listing the various murals and where to go to see them. The murals are maintained, refreshed, and growing in number.

I have fallen in love with electronic paper since getting a Kindle; so seeing this technology slowly appear elsewhere was a treat.
Wildlife in Vichy
Short film wildlife near Vichy, France. I have no idea what the furry animals are.
Hall des Sources et des Dômes
Short film of the Hall des Sources and des Dômes in Vichy, France.
Gazole and Diesel
When I pulled up to the pumps though we could not find diesel. One was diesel but which one. In France, or at least in this region or in this fuel station, they had trade names for the different fuel types.
Céreste
We stopped at Céreste during the late afternoon and had an ice-cream. Céreste was one of the larger villages we stopped at during the day and we wandered around for a while. The commune had a larger number of modern homes and felt more alive than Villars or Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt.
Villars
It was hot, arid, and entirely lived up to the expectations of a French village in southern France. Of the small communes we visited, Villars is the one I most fondly remember.
Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt
Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt surprised and delighted me in equal measure. I expected only a village or small town but instead we found ourselves walking up to a robbed out chateau and impressive dam.
